1. Cause: The Basic and the Most common Cause of the Error code 51330 is the mismatch of the WEP or WPA key typed during the Wifi Connection setup Process on your Wii.
Troubleshoot: You need to Check the correct WEP or WPA key from the Router or your Pc and then start over the Wii Wifi connection setup and put in the correct Key.
Please note:
WEP – 64bit Encryption = 5 case sensitive characters
WEP – 128bit Encryption = 13 case sensitive Characters
WPA = 8~64 Case Sensitive Characters
2. Cause:Automatic Wifi setup on your Wii console can sometime select the wrong SSID or Network.
Troubleshoot: You need to do a manual wifi setup of the Connection. During the setup, you need to select your network to connect with. then give in the right network key.
If you own a pc or Laptop which connects to the Wifi, then follow these steps below to get the Correct settings for your Wii.
- Click START, if you use XP- Click on RUN or if Windows7 – Type RUN in search and click on the Run application.
- Type in “cmd.exe” without the quotes in the Run window.
- On the Cmd Window. Type “ipconfig /all” and then press ENTER. You will get all the list of Network adapters you have configured in your PC or Lap. Find your Wifi Modem and note all the details below it. Now use this Information to Configure your Wifi on your Wii in the Manual Mode.
3. Cause: Sometimes the router may not communicate with the ISP properly.
Troubleshoot: If your Wifi Connection was working fine and suddenly you started getting this Error code 51330 then, you need to Power cycle your router.
- First, Switch off your Wii console completely.

4. Cause:If Your Wifi Router has MAC filtering Option enabled.
Troubleshoot: Your router may be allowing only certain Mac address to access Wifi and may be filtering the rest. so you need to either disable the mac filtering or add your Wii Mac id to the Allowed list.
- First, open your Internet Browser, type in your default IP.( Most common defaul IPs are 198.168.1.1 , 198.168.0.0 , 198.168.1.0 , 127.0.0.1 , or just try searching it on net for your router )
- From the router configurations, find the “MAC address filter” settings (also called “network filter”, “access control” or “access list” based on your modem model).
- If your Mac address filter is set to “enabled”, you then should add the Wii’s MAC address to your “allowed” list. You can locate the Wii’s MAC address from your “console information” page (located under “Internet” inside the Wii Settings).
5. Cause: Router Broadcast Channel Overlap may cause the problem.
Troubleshoot: The Wifi Broadcast Channell from your Router may overlap with the other broadcast channel which the Wii COnsole might not Detect or may cause problems. So I suggest you to Change it to Channel 1 or 11 as this can even increase your Download speed too.
To change the channel, you need to Go to your default Ip (your Router ip ) and change the channel. you will need a Pc or lap
- First, open your Internet Browser, type in your default IP.
- If you had set a Router Password then enter it. (note this is not as same as the Network key) You should probably know it or please check the Router’s user manual
- You need to find something related to Channel. most probably you will find it where it shows the Subnet mask Ips and DNS Ips.
- Commonly the Channel is 6 or 7, Change the Channel to 1 or 11. if its already in 1 or 11 then change it to something else.
- Save your changes and Restart your Router.
6. Cause: Some Special Routers require special Configurations.
Troubleshoot: Check out Nintendo’s router details for special notes, if available, to your modem.
- Click here to visit Nintendo’s Wireless Modem search page.Select your router manufacturer, if available.
- Select your router’s model number, if available.
- Look over for any “specific notes” at the top of the router’s page. Many problems could be solved simply by changing configurations described in the “special notes.”
7. Cause: Same SSID or Network name in the Neighborhood.
Troubleshoot: Sometimes if your neightbours own the same router then there are chances that the Network name or the SSID can be same. So you need to change your Network Name to a unique one.
- First, open your Internet Browser, type in your default IP.
- There should be a option to Name your Network or as SSID.
- Rename it to a unique one.
